A HELLRAISER OF AN ACOUSTIC GUITAR

Singer, songwriter and guitarist Tim Armstrong has spent 30 years leading influential Bay Area punk legends, Rancid. And though the band’s music is nothing short of electric, the main instrument driving their raucous three-chord anthems is actually a stalwart ’60s-era Fender, which Armstrong calls his “number one” songwriting partner.

Ten years ago, as an homage to that beloved guitar, Armstrong teamed up with Fender to create his own signature model deemed the Hellcat. Topped with his trademark “Hellcat” and double-skull inlays, this striking guitar quickly became one of the best-selling Fender acoustic artist models ever. Now, to celebrate a decade of this iconic instrument, Fender has unleashed a special anniversary model featuring a solid spruce top, gilded hardware and stage-ready onboard electronics.

A VERSATILE SONGWRITING MACHINE

As his musical resume proves, Armstrong is far more than a just a punk icon. In addition to Rancid, he’s fronted the seminal ska act Operation Ivy and rap-rock supergroup Transplants, recorded as a solo act, founded his own Hellcat record label and produced/written for artists ranging from reggae legend Jimmy Cliff to pop phenom Pink.

So when it comes to his main guitar, Armstrong needs something that’s easy to play, built to last and versatile enough to handle anything. The Tim Armstrong Anniversary Hellcat is that guitar.

A CAT OUT OF HELL

The 10th anniversary Hellcat features a compact concert-sized body with a solid spruce top and mahogany back and sides. This classic tonewood combination is paired with a comfortable “C”-shape maple neck and a walnut fingerboard and bridge, as well as modern appointments like a dual action truss rod and a Graph Tech NuBone nut.

Meanwhile, a Fishman Presys III pickup/preamp system – with easy-to-access onboard controls and a built-in tuner – ensures a pristine amplified performance of the guitar’s bright and resonant acoustic tone.

This one-of-a-kind bruiser also features eye-catching aesthetic touches, including specially-designed Hellcat fingerboard inlays punctuated by a “double-skull” insignia at the 12th fret, Armstrong’s signature on the truss rod cover and a ’70s F-style rosette. A sleek Black Gloss finish, accented by gold hardware and a matching gold pickguard, is new to the 10th anniversary model.

The result is a smooth-playing, great-sounding acoustic guitar that can traverse all styles and stages with authentic Fender edge and attitude.
