INTRODUCING THE CHRISSIE HYNDE TELECASTER®

THE CHRISSIE HYNDE TELECASTER®

Telecaster in hand, Chrissie Hynde formed The Pretenders over four decades ago and quickly established the band as a rock powerhouse. Chrissie’s churning Tele rhythms have been the heartbeat of the band’s rugged sound from the very beginning. Her namesake model pays tribute to a beloved '65 Telecaster, with a stunning Road Worn Ice Blue Metallic finish, a custom "Mid '60s C"-shaped neck and custom pickups for period-correct look, tone and feel.

A LIFETIME OF STORIES, TOLD THROUGH AN ICONIC GUITAR

There’s something to be said about a person who can front a rock outfit that hits No. 1 with their debut album and continued to chart 11 studio albums over the course of the next 40 years. Chrissie Hynde is one of the few - if any - to do it.

Innately talented, relentlessly uncompromising, inspiringly rebellious: Those phrases could all be used to describe the leader of the Pretenders’ musical prowess. But perhaps one of the best ways to sum up Hynde is as a storyteller.

FIVE DECADES OF HITS CAN’T BE WRONG

You have to be a storytelling savant to land innumerable singles on various charts around the world, with classics such as Brass in Pocket (1979), Don’t Get Me Wrong (‘86), I’ll Stand By You (‘94), Boots of Chinese Plastic (2008) and Holy Commotion! (‘16) representing Hynde’s songwriting success in each of five different decades.

And one of the mainstays throughout Hynde’s artistic career, which has also seen her write a critically acclaimed memoir and gain a passionate following as a painter, has always been a Fender Telecaster. When catching one of the Pretenders’ enthralling live performances, from the band’s initial shows to now, it’s actually rare to see Hynde without a Tele in her hand.

As such, Fender is honoring Hynde with a namesake model of her own, paying homage to what might be her most-favorite guitar - a '65 Telecaster that has become synonymous with the Rock and Roll Hall of Famer.

A SIX-STRINGED REBEL SURE TO INSPIRE

Just like Hynde’s trend-setting fashion sense, the Chrissie Hynde Road Worn Telecaster is sure to inspire current creators, both aesthetically and sonically.

Visually, its Faded Ice Blue Metallic Road Worn lacquer finish is one of Fender’s most eye-catching, and that’s not to mention the classy and rare chrome mirror pickguard and Road Worn hardware that evokes Hynde’s unmistakable voice singing Back on the Chain Gang.

Sonically, the Chrissie Hynde Telecaster boasts premium features that will help any player recreate her powerful rhythms that drove so many timeless Pretenders records, including two specially voiced single-coil pickups, a "Mid '60s C"-shaped maple neck and  a 7.25” radius fingerboard.

Just like Hynde challenged the norm when she started the Pretenders back in 1978 and continues to do so today, the Chrissie Hynde Road Worn Telecaster is the perfect tool for those looking to carve out their own lane in style.
